CR: 169 million smartphones shipped in India for 2021

Smartphone shipments in India reached 169 million units in 2021 - its highest ever value. According to Counterpoint Research, the total market value was estimated at $38 billion which represents a 27% yearly growth. Demand outweighed supply in Q4 which led to an 8% shipment decline compared to the same period in 2020. Xiaomi was the clear-cut leader in India with its 24% market share while also reaching its highest level in the premium segment (> INR 30,000 ~ $400) thanks to a 258% YoY growth.
